SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
A non-invasive option for chronic soft tissue conditions that haven't responded to rest alone. Shockwave therapy uses focused acoustic pulses to stimulate the body's own repair process, offered at Impact Performance as part of a broader care plan — not a standalone quick fix.
What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy (sometimes called ESWT, or extracorporeal shockwave therapy) delivers focused acoustic pulses into soft tissue. The energy is intended to stimulate local blood flow and the body's natural repair response in the treated area. It's applied directly to the skin over the area of concern with a handheld applicator — no incision, no injection.
Impact Performance uses equipment from Shockwave Centers of America (SCOA), and our team has completed SCOA's practitioner training program for this equipment.

Impact Performance is an independently owned and operated business. We are an equipment customer and certified affiliate of Shockwave Centers of America (SCOA), not an SCOA-operated location.
Chronic Soft Tissue Conditions
Shockwave therapy is generally used for soft tissue conditions that have become chronic rather than acute — areas where the body's normal healing process has stalled. Common areas include the heel and plantar fascia, the Achilles tendon, the elbow, and other tendon or connective tissue regions that respond to this type of stimulus.
Described here for general information. Whether shockwave therapy is appropriate for your specific condition is determined after an in-person evaluation, not from this page.
What to Expect
- Evaluation — confirming shockwave therapy is an appropriate fit for what you're dealing with
- Application — gel is applied to the treatment area, then the applicator delivers pulses in a slow, controlled motion
- Sensation — most patients feel some discomfort during treatment; intensity is adjusted based on your tolerance
- Afterward — mild soreness in the treated area for a day or two is common, similar to a hard workout
How It's Billed
Shockwave therapy falls under our Performance Visit pricing ($89 for non-members) — the same flat rate whether your visit includes shockwave, laser, cryotherapy, or soft tissue work, with no separate modality upcharge. Members receive this as part of their included visits. See our membership details for the full breakdown.
Shockwave Therapy FAQ
Does it hurt?
Most patients feel some discomfort during treatment. The intensity is adjustable, and your provider will work within your tolerance.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies by condition and is determined after an in-person evaluation — we don't estimate this sight unseen.
Is this covered by insurance?
Impact Performance operates on a self-pay, membership-based model rather than billing insurance. Superbills are available on request.
Can this be combined with other therapies?
Yes — shockwave is often used alongside chiropractic care and other recovery modalities as part of a broader plan, not on its own.
